three years

Three years later... a little wiser about marriage? Hopefully. Still best friends? Yes:)

three years later

Three years later, and I finally have a frame. Nothing like the penny sale at Aaron Brothers to get me motivated!

tea towels

These were a 'just because' present (the best kind!) from my dear friend Kristi last fall. I've been hunting around Etsy for similar styled towels and napkins. Any suggestions of good Etsy shops?!

new decorations

I've been running around taking pictures of items for Ebay and thought my new "silver dollar sprays" needed some camera love:)

twenty six

Twenty six is going to be a GREAT year, I can feel it. Unlike other birthdays, I am excited about this new chapter in my life. My next big birthday will be thirty, and that's OK. This year I'm going to pass my CPA. I'm not going to be sick anymore, unlike about 10 months of this past year. I'm going to spend more time with my husband. I'm going to bike to work on Tuesdays and fill my new wicker bicycle basket with fresh fruit from the farmer's market. I'm going to meet a new nephew, and several of my friends' babies. I'm going to run a half marathon, and really be able to run it because I'm not going to be sick for 6 weeks of the training.

Yes, turning twenty six is going to be a great thing.

We celebrated Saturday night at Blush, and I'm very blessed to have so many friends.

Josh came up from Anaheim for the weekend and decided to take the later train back to spend more time with me. Yipee!! :) We had a nice lazy Sunday at the beach.

Hayden stole the show at the beach, as always. He just had such a good time playing with his truck...

... that he passed out under the umbrella. Look at him stealing the show!
Last night, on my actual birthday, I went to dinner with some friends. They are such great friends and TOTALLY made me uncomfortable by going around the table saying nice things about me. Really, I was majorly uncomfortable. I am not only extremely, extremely blessed to have such wonderful friends, but also to feel known. Tear.

My birthday is NEVER complete without a Baskin Robbins Mint Chip ice cream cake! Holy goodness!!!

I almost forgot to add in the classic Sue-Megan email exchange.

Mom: 26 years ago you came into my life around 3pm east coast time:) Love you. Happy Birthday.
Me: thanks MOM. I bet it hurt too :)
Mom: You don't remember that part. I was so thrilled you were a girl, since I was expecting a boy. In those day we didn't know ahead of time. That's why you guys wore lots of yellow (good for both)

Mom, I'm not sure you know this, but you are hillllarious sometimes.

The resurrection of my garden!

It is a glorious day... my garden is BACK! If you recall the destruction of my garden from last year, you'll know why I am thrilled.

A cherry tomato arrived first...

Etsy finds

A couple weeks ago I posted that I bought a few screen printed items from Etsy. One of the items I bought was this fun and funky alphabet screen print for my niece, Anna, who is turning two! I thought it would be a fun way to view the alphabet as she was learning it. Oh, but how to display it?!? I went through dozens of frames at the store, and settled on this cheap, plastic one! Hah! I decided that I wanted it be child proof and something that she could get be a two year old with.

** Turns out the cheap, plastic case didn't make it in one piece. :(

santa barbara art and wine walk

I was excited to find out that I could actually attend the Art and Wine walk this year. We attended two years ago, but were in South Africa last year (cry me a river). I took a test on Wednesday, so an event on Thursday was a perfect was to celebrate my two days of freedom before class started again on Saturday.

The wine walk is such a good time. So much so that I have rarely seen advertising for it, and it's a totally sold out event every year. At the beginning of the night, everyone picks up a wine glass and plate and then spends the next three hours walking to art galleries all over town and sampling local wine and restaurants at each stop.

The food was PHENOMENAL. I tried stuff I normally wouldn't eat (like rabbit) and dishes at my favorite restaurants that I often pass over. The wine was equally amazing, and I'll have several more stops the next time I head up to Santa Ynez.

We were having such a good time running all over town.

Great setting at the courthouse for the after-party.
WHAT a party!!! More great food, more wineries, a band, a silent auction and of course, The Palm!
My winnings!!! I've never won a silent auction before!!

may roundup

The past six weeks have felt like a whirlwind. Tax season ended, we made a quick and tiring trip up north, I started commuting to UCLA twice a week, I was studying a ton, and trying to fit in time to hang out with friends. I finally feel as though the rush is over and I can get back a semi-normal routine. A routine that includes studying and driving to LA on the weekends, of course!

I spent the majority of the month at Starbucks studying, and was lucky enough to have Josh join me most of the time since he had to study as well. Here's a few things we did in May, as if balancing work and studying wasn't enough.

Corinne's bonfire

Co-workers over for dinner and Guitar Hero
Trying out Blush (so fun!)

Celebrating Carson!
Yet another Guitar Hero night
Hayden's first day at the pool- sooo much fun a nap was needed
Another bonfire! (we tend to do the same thing multiple times... bonfires, guitar hero...)

funny household finds

Not sure what is worse... that Josh handed this to me when I asked for a pen earlier or that I apparently own this pen?

Love that I just noticed this now, after a long day of studying and in dire need of a laugh.
